In the spring of 2007, a group of explorers and film makers traveled to China's Yunnan Province and Tibetan Autonomous Region to discover firsthand the effect of China's rapid development on the country's rivers. The team, made up of Chinese and American scientists, historians, environmentalists, journalists and river enthusiasts paddled hundreds of miles of river, floated through massive dam sites and spoke to villagers being forced from their homes by rising reservoir levels.
A River's Last Breath is a glimpse into the life of China's west, and the story of the slowly rising waters of the Yangtze River.
