The unveiling of the US 2 electronic collisions signs on Wednesday, May 27, 2009. This sign is part of the US 2 traffic safety corridor project. The Washington Traffic Safety Commission, in cooperation with the Washington State Department of Transportation and the Washington State Patrol, designates safety corridors at the request of local communities with the goal of reducing fatal and disabling collisions on roadways with significant safety needs.
The day after it was installed it went back to zero. They have raised the speed limit to 60 along this road for some reason. I think it should be back to 55 if they are serious about lowering the death rate. The onramps are quite dangerous in this area. Most of the deaths have happened at the onramps. Another problem is that a lot of people from Monroe use this highway.
