HIP OR HYPE?! - NYX Soft Matte Lip Cream

HIP OR HYPE is back! Our beauty chat series that discusses whether a cosmetic item is as Hip as rumor has it or just all hyped up. In this "episode" we're chatting about NYX Cosmetics' Soft Matte Lip Cream.

NYX is a great brand for the pretty beauty-on-a-budget! NYX offers lovely, low cost versions of the latest trends in lipcolors, eyeshadows, eyeliners, blushes and much more. One of the products on everyone's lips is the NYX Soft Matte Lip Cream.

The Soft Matte Lip Cream offers a soft, lightweight application of a cream that sets to a matte finish. This NYX product glides on with an almost slippery feel and does indeed set to a matte finish. For my taste, the color applies unevenly and a bit undersaturated and tends to settle in the natural crevices of the lips. The Soft Matte Lip Creams come in a pretty range of colors and many have given them positive reviews. I wouldn't repurchase them (unless they were reformulated) but I will make the most of mine by enhancing them with lipliner, lipstick or gloss.

This was a truly honest review. While the colors are pretty and true, the formula is not so great and they could be a tad bit cheaper. I totally agree!
