Look at the adjustable rear seat! Even in luxury cars of today, that's fairly unusual.
I wish the audio were better.

you did a bettrr job than the blokes they chose

amazing! I like this australian audition more than the TOP GEAR US! More life put in to it.

actually a good video for antique lovers , those old mercs were something else, if you had ever driven one , you will know it haunts you to have one as a souvenier.

People here are judging this way too hard. It is an audition video after all, it isn't about camera work and sound, it is about featuring the personalities, and I thought these two were very good indeed. Not everybody has HD cameras and a sound crew, cut them some slack.

Some parts of the show is not what I would call professional.....
But about the car, wow!
I don´t say everything Mercedes has ever built is great, but the 600 definitely is! Comparing it to any US made luxury car at the time when it comes to build quality is just ridicoulus, period!
Have pretty much unrestored 1957 Cadillac myself which is a really lovely car. But when I compare it to my friends Mercedes 180 of the same year, it´s not very well put together....(Lot faster though.....)

Finally, he (the host commentator) aptly and succinctly summaries the mess-on-wheels: take a listen, beginning at 2.47 and wrapping up at 2.55: done; press CRUSH.

@sixpoint3: Your prig & sprig rant paired to its foolish attribution to me of "myopic vision" and/or "a glaring information gap" as to the universe that comprises Automotive Design & Engineering history has been proven inane. Mercedes Benz ('err the muggly chic from whom that enterprise derives its name), akin to the tacky brainwashing advertisement "status" mantra inculcated by the similarly over-rated "branded dorks" eg, Ralph Lauren, Calvin Klein, Jill Sander share a certain other legacy

Crypto unpleasantries masked ... 'err unmasked here, suffice it say that Mercedes Benz did achieve -- despite itself, and owing to two highly disenchanted later ex-employees -- wondrous refinement, with its 1957 300SL Roadster convertible, often overlooked or merely forgotten, such an anomaly was its existence; and, too, with its 1959 220S and 220SE. However, only USA’s Navy developed technology has availed longevity; most had simply rusted to death: RUST BULLET!
@CarCriticAssessor. How does one 'wield a dearth' of something..? Your opinions re the aesthetic appeal of the 600 are of course entirely personal, your mangling of the English language is not. As for the American cars you mention, they certainly have their devotees, but undeniably lack the precision, quality of materials and engineering innovations of their European contemporaries, of which the 600 was the premier example
