Fantastic comercial...powerful song.

Hands down.. best commercial and ad Song of ALL TIME!!! This was when commercials and TV cared about what children and families were seeing. It showed what Real Men were supposed to be( strong, kind and confident!) and the beauty of life when taking care of responsibilities and having pride in your self and appearance no matter who you are. So beautiful and Timeless!!

This song has been in my head all my life. At 28 years old I decided to look it up on You Tube! A shaving commercial with so much power haha! It always sounds great!

Unglaublich, glatte Rasur mit nur 2 Klingen, heute geht das natürlich nicht mehr.
Man braucht schon mindestens 4 Klingen! Wahnsinn, was ein Fortschritt.
Den Preis von damals braucht man natürlich mit heute auch nicht zu vergleichen.
Selbes Ergebnis, dafür aber 10 mal so teuer wie damals :>
Did you know an artist named Thomas Dolby, that's right, of "She Blinded Me With Science" fame, wrote a song called "Close But No Cigar" that has a chorus that sounds Strikingly Similar to the chorus of this ad ?
It may be a Chicken and Egg scenario, but I believe Dolby had it first...?

@phawkins71 Only the "Close but no cigar" line vagely resembles it. I have noticed that jingle writers very often get their inspiration from other songs. But I doubt the writer of this jingle was inspired by Dolby's song. If I'm correct, "Close but no cigar" was released in 1992, while Gillette already used this jingle in the late 80s.
