Would be nice if it worked like that. There is no setup file for windows drivers, you need to replace the files manually in your system folder...then replace the total mix and control panel in your autostart configuration. this always took me some time.

@Jeefs: You are missing something! Reed the manual. In Windows XP the Hardware Wizard Dialog is shown when a new hardware is found. In Windows 7 Microsoft removed the automatic start of the Driver Software Update dialog. Hit the Windows key, type 'Device Manager', start the Device Manager by selecting it from the list and hit Enter. Insert the RME Driver CD into your CD-ROM drive, and follow the instructions. Windows now installs the driver and registers it as a new audio device. Reboot.

That's clear but if I do and update I don't have a CD only the zip from the RME update page

Thats the same. Unpack and choose this directory. The CD is nearly useless. Always use the "ZIP" with the latest drivers from the website.

I have to say...the Fireface driver and firmware setup is totally confusing and possibly the worst I have ever seen.

RME needs to make it more clear...I work with computers all the time and their support and driver updates are downright confusing!!

hi. i recently bought a babyface.

after i installed the driver that i downloaded, everything seems to work but the name of the driver remains "fireface' is that normal?

also, how can i check which firmware i have installed?

I agree with Jeefs : on Windows 7, you have to do it manually...

yeah I did that but the Driver Wizard didn't update total fx and the Settings Dialogue. It's not a big deal I just thought a .exe for the update would've been more pleasant

You can program on your Mac too. I usually buy a high-grade Pc laptop each 2 years becouse a intense use heat make the hardware to melt it. Now my mac is from march 2008 and even can heard the vent working after 5hours computer working and I cant remember my last not desire reboot :-) It is a very critical moment to record a gig on stage.

    Anyway good luck!!.
