I went a little overboard with my Christmas Display in 2006. I synchronized the lights to music.

1) BareNaked Ladies -- Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer
2) Bobby Rivers -- Didn't I Get This Last Year
3) Disney's Philharmonic -- God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen
4) Trans-Siberian Orchestra -- Christmas Eve Sarajevo

3 months of planning and programming, 5,000+ lights (rope, icicle, spiral tree, etc.), rewiring the garage outlet for 30-amp service, $400 for controller box, $300 in extension cords, $140 for FM transmitter, 6 trips to Home Depot for more extension cords, and 15 hours of installation over 2 days.

Hourly shows from 6-9pm every night between Black Friday (Day after Thanksgiving) and January 1st.

Totally worth it!
