@Jrcrave - Oh I know that. I love Kurt Russell's John Wayneish voice in that film, and I have seen that shirt before in Death Proof. Awesome shirt.

@Zeeboe the line is a reference to John Wayne, even when "Jack Jack Burton" did it in Big Truoble In Little China it was a John Wayne reference. by the way you should notice Rusell actual t-sirt from the movie above Shanna's head, and I never said John Wayne's name was mention it the script, it the whole "in my book" I was referring to.

@broadjumper1 - Oh, I agree. I wouldn't trade my Grindhouse watching theater experience for nothing, but I do think that if the film had been a stand-alone movie, it would have at least been number one at the box office the first week.

@Zeeboe - I didn't say it doesn't work, just that it could have been better, perhaps even his best work critically as a stand-alone if it received all the attention. I do agree that it his homage to b-rated flicks, but we can't deny that it bombed at the box-office due to public confusion about the movie's subject and a pretty poor zombies flick, with Planet Terror. Just think, a movie called DEATH PROOF on the marquee. I think people would flock to that!
