The Key West Turtle Museum hosted a day of fun and learning for the families of local residents and tourists on November 7, 2009. On hand were representatives from the Florida FWC Marine Turtle Program and the Turtle Hospital to teach about the situation of sea turtles today and what we can do to help them thrive. The most extraordinary guest was Scooter, a young loggerhead sea turtle rescued by the Turtle Hospital. Scooter is helping to raise awareness about sea turtles until he is big enough to be released into the wild.
Everyone at the Turtle Museum was thrilled by his visit!
The staff and supporters of the Mel Fisher Maritime Heritage Society were very pleased by the strong interest in the Key West Turtle Museums Family Day. It was so nice to see so many people enjoying Key Wests newest museum! This was only a beginning. If you are interested in sea turtles or the history of old Key West, stay tuned, there is much more to come
