SIMILIAR STYLED CADILLAC FENDERS AND GRILLE INSPIRED THE DESIGN OF 39 CHEVY. THERE WERE 2 SERIES, MASTER DELUXE SERIES JA AND THIS EXAMPLE, MASTER 85 SERIES JB. NEW THIS YEAR ON MASTER DELUXE WAS THE INNOVATIVE "KNEE ACTION" SUSPENSION WITH EXPOSED COIL SPRING. CHEVY FOR 1939 PRODUCED 13 DIFFERENT BODY STYLES INCLUDING THE FIRST YEAR OF STATION WAGONS BUT CONVERTIBLES WERE DROPPED. THE WEIGHT OF THIS MASTER 85 IS 2,800 LBS., AT A BASE PRICE OF $648. 124,059 WERE PRODUCED OF THIS MODEL. TOTAL PRODUCTION FOR ALL MODELS WAS UP 24% TO 577,278 UNITS. CHEVY WAS AGAIN IN FIRST PLACE IN SALES AND THIS YEAR THE 15 MILLIONTH CHEVY WAS PRODUCED. ACCESSORIES THIS YEAR INCLUDED A WINDSHEILD VISOR, WINGED HOOD ORNAMENT, REAR FENDER SKIRTS, BUMPER GUARDS, SIDE MIRRORS, AND THOSE WIDE WHITE WALL TIRES.
