VIEW ROYAL -- Jeneece Place now has a permanent home.
It's a home away a home where families can stay while their children undergo treatment in hospital.
And it's the brainchild of Vancouver Island's best-known fundraiser, 16 year-old Jeneece Edroff.
Today, the location of Jeneece Place was unveiled at Victoria General Hospital, barely a two minute walk from the hospital which houses so much of the island's complex pediatric care.
It is a project close to the heart of a girl who has spent so much of her life in and out of hospital. Jeneece was born with neurofibromatosis has fought the pain of tumours on her spine all her life.
She's been through surgeries her parents through heartache. The idea for Jeneece place is taken from those experiences.
The BC Government and Vancouver Island Health Authority are to thank for the land, worth about $400,000.
Community partners, such as the Queen Alexandra foundation for Children are working with backers to get the bricks and mortar built.
And next week, Telus, Jeneec's biggest financial backer, will host its World Skins Game at Bear Mountain, an event created just to benefit Jeneece place.
