2/22/10 Nato forces in southern Afghanistan bombed a civilian convoy, killing 27 people including women and children and injuring many more, Afghan officials said.
The airstrike in a remote part of Oruzgan province yesterday capped a bloody week for Afghan civilians that has seen some 60 innocent people killed by Nato weapons.
54 U.S. troops have been killed in Afghanistan this year so far.

The military commander in Kabul called the killings a tragic loss of life " troops fired not knowing the vehicle was a bus and believing it posed a threat to a military convoy clearing roadside bombs on a highway.
The killings triggered an anti-American demonstration, infuriated officials and appeared likely to harm public opinion on the eve of the most important offensive of the war, in which thousands of American and NATO troops will try to take control of the Kandahar region
