Work done in my diploma thesis (2008).
Ideal curve generated with optimization algorithm OC-DAE1 and nonlinear single-track-car model by Matthias Gerdts, University Würzburg, Germany, http://www.mathematik.uni-wuerzburg.de/~gerdts/.
Race track modeled by odering a sport map on the web, using ruler and marker, measuring 81 points "by hand", vector calculus, MATLAB, and a bit of '"magic".
Video animation created with DYNAanimation Editor, TESIS DYNAware, Munich, Germany, see www.tesis.de/
Enjoy!
This is a real fancy application of optimal control. If you wanna learn more, check out

Very nice work! What model of the car did you use?

And by that, I meant what analytical model? Was it custom made for the f1 car or a general one?
