@janelane64 I would think the people who thinks Margaret Cho is a bad role model are within the traditional, conservative Korean community whom despise women that are vulgar and provocative on sexual matter that is largely taboo and severely frowned upon.

This lasted one season (1994-'95) on ABC, supposedly based on Cho's stand-up comedy [but, as she comments on the DVD release of the series, "No, it wasn't!!"]. What the network wanted was someone who could fit into one of their all-purpose "bland" sitcom formats back then, as Marie Osmond did in "MAYBE THIS TIME" the following season. Margaret had to suffer through a change in cast and ABC's "guidelines" as to how she was to appear and act- that's why she was screwed up after the series ended.

I loved this show when I was a kid. I look back at it now and it's not that good, but at least it introduced me to Margaret Cho. Screw people who think she's a "bad Asian role-model." She's been a very important role model for lots of people, of every race. She was one of the most important role models in my life and I'm white. She showed me how to find my own voice.

Anyone who thinks Margaret Cho is a bad role model is possibly either sexist, racist, or homophobic or all of the above. I can't really imagine what someone would have against her to call her a "bad role model" unless it was something like that.
