Spain wasn´t the biggest colonial empire in XVI century, but only in the end of XVI and XVII centuries.
Portugal was the biggest global Empire of the XVI century.
And the West and East didn´t turn back.
In 1498, Vasco da Gama reach India - joined Atlantic and Indian Oceans and Europe to Asia - and Pedro Alvares Cabral Europe, Brazil and India in 1500.
Its the beginning of the direct contact between Europe and Asian Far East.
