There are many of these abandoned houses in the valley below my home. Once they were filled with children's footsteps and the voices of people who loved them. Now fallen on hard times, the families have either moved away or died out, and these magnificent, lonely ships now sail in a sea of waving green grass with nobody left to love them. The following lines tell of the Ingram house where I played as a child ~ July 14, 2008 ~

NOBODY LEFT TO LOVE ME
(original poem)

My ship sailed just past midnight under moonlight made of glass
The furthest thing from my full heart was will the trip long last
I rode a sea of boundless green, obeyed the captain's call
But after all was done and said, still caught within the trawl
Nobody loves me now, it seems, nobody's left to know
How deep a wound was opened up by wind and sleet and snow
No one's now left to care for me, I'm out here on my own
Starved for children's laughter and a man to call me home
Leave all your cares upon my stoop and I'll be with you soon
We'll take ourselves out for a sail and aim to hit the moon
Don't weep for me, don't mourn my life, I've lived it full and sweet
As I am gone, you'll too leave here and in the night we'll meet

  • This is beautiful Suze, what a wonderful poem.

What great images in your video !

I think the love, memories and essence of those past is not so much stored but is fluid, passed through you and now us, flowing through and of the essence of a collective love,...forever.

Well, it's just a theory really.

I'm gonna' hafta' get me down that way n' find me a place. ;-)

Nice Suze, Very Nice ! Thanks. -wally :-))

  • @profwaldo Thanks for your friendship and your always positive comments. It's comments such as yours that keep me here, keep me making videos. Best always, good friend! Suze

  • Hey....I remember seeing this a long time ago. Suze, does that mean we had been friends for that long? WOw! YOu mean we didn't just meet and whatnot?

  • We've been friends for a long time, yes, but shortly after we met, YT changed all the share functions around and I cannot tell you how many people's work I lost track of, including yours. The process of re-discovery has been so difficult because we have no way to notify people what we are doing...no share function, no bulletins, no nuttin. We'll not lose contact again! That's the important thing.

  • ggrreeaat vviidd suuzzee!

too bad LvB's tune got cut off though

mayB I havav id re ply...

those old walls will whisper marvelouSecrets to the artists of the future. what a shame though, with 6+ billion people on eARTh I'm sure somebody could use the shelter!

  • Hello ξ£Ξ !(◎_◎;)

Always wonderful to hear from you. One day, I'll figure out how to say your name. :) Thanks so much for your lovely comments here. Ran out of video before B ran out of music; that's a long piece, as you know. Hope you're doing well! Peace ~ Suze

  • I concur....I am NEVER loosing you again Suze. All I know is that it felt like I knew you before.....and you really know my heart and artistic intent. You know me too well to just casually disappear....ever again. So yes...you are stuck now. Lol

  • Thank you for leaving such a sensitive, compelling comment on this video. We are fellow travelers for a time, and I often wonder what becomes of our love and our memories - our essence - where might those be stored? Hugs, Suze

  • Magnificent, Suze. All of it. In dreams, I've seen houses as a metaphor for the self. We all have, I believe, it must be something in our collective memory. You capture the metaphor so well in the poem, and the images.

  • Thank you so much for your kindness, also for making this video a fave. These old abandoned houses just break my heart for all the reasons you said. Peace, love and light always to you ~ Suze
