My NW Ranger: Seki-Japan w/ partial serrated blade has been my favorite choice for camping, hiking, and fishing. I agree with what the video finding are. Checked today at SOG Lynwood about an alternate sheath; recommended the same as in video. Chopping, slicing, and carving is easier than displayed in video with practice. Shaving and splitting for tinder is excellent. Handle is great; Great balance w/ multiple gripings. Love the simplicity and utility-not flashy, but most used.

Hello there, nice review.. I just have one question.. is it possible to put the Ranger into that Seal pup sheath conversely? Im left handed and this would come handy for me :)

@Ctiradloss Yes, it can be used both ways!

A better test for this knife would be: cutting rope or seatbelts, slicing food, opening boxes, and stabbing and slashing things. This is what this knife was designed to do. It's not really robust enough for protracted chopping or batoning, though "Equip2Endure" insists on using it that way. It'll hold up for a while, but I think you're asking for trouble by pushing it like that.

@whitethronebooks My personal opinion: any knife can cut seatbelts and rope (this one especially since its razor sharp), and with this being an outdoors knife I felt that it needed to be torture tested so to speak. I am reviewing EDC knives which I will test for the things you listed above though.
