Annie was a favorite of my Grandmother and will hopefully reach more people than she originally intended. What a great band. No classically trained people, these days, would consider breaking the barriers that Renaissance did.

Very excellent.

acoustic bass??

There are good music groups. There are even musical gods. Then, there is Renaissance.
"Nuff said.

@drmarosen Yes, I too heard them alot on WNEW in the seventies.
And I agree they were most certainly an English band. However, they were actually better received in the U.S. than in Britain. The critical reception for them over there was not generally glowing.

@mikmit54 Make that almost 40 for me. Maddy Prior and Annie. Heaven.

@rematpac You realize that they are, after all, an ENGLISH rock band. And, whether or not they achieved acceptance in the states is rather immaterial. BTW, I saw them while living in U.S., at sold out NYC performances. Progressive rock stations such as NY's WNEW-FM flagship, "where rock live(d)" gave them plenty of air-play. Most significantly, were very popular in the UK. Band members moved on to other great groups. Classically trained rockers they were. Cheers!
