Chapter 44 Part 2
Joe:*sighed and sat next to Rachel* Im not sure if what Selena did, is a good enough reasonfor you to stop talking to her. But you might want to talk to Nick.
*As if on cue, they heard the front door open and Nick talking with Kevin. Rachel looked at Joe and gave him a half-smile at the timing of his statement. She nodded and gave him a hug, as a way of thanking him for talking to her. Rachel stood up and walked toward the bedroom door just as Kevin walked up to the room. He gave her a smile and said hi before moving past her into his room. Rachel walked farther down the hallway to Nick and Frankies room. The door was open and Nick was setting a bag on the floor at the foot of his bed. She knocked on the door and stepped inside the room as Nick looked up at her.*
Nick:*he smiled at her* Hey.
Rachel: Hey Nickcan I talk to you?
Nick:*his smile faded as he took in her serious tone and expression, he motioned for her to take a seat on his bed as he sat in his desk chair* Whats up?
Rachel:*she watched him for a moment, trying to figure out how to proceed* Nick *she trailed off and Nick waited for her to talk again* Um, I just wanted to know, why you didnt tell me.
Nick:*he scratched his head* Uh, youll have to be more specific. What did I tell you?
Rachel: That you broke up with Selena two weeks ago. *she kept talking before Nick had a chance* I called her to confirm plans that we had made for next week and she said she didnt think I would ever want to speak to her again.
Nick: I didnt think it was important?
Rachel: Nick, you are completely entitled to have your private life and your secrets. Im mean, I cant expect you to tell me everything or get mad at you if you dont. I know that, but Selena was my friend, and she did something.so wrong. Something I find unacceptable in a relationship, as you should know. And I think I deserved to know that about her before I hung out with her when she was in town next week.
Nick: I.
Rachel: And I had no idea because you seemed completely unaffected. You have seemed completely normal and not like you just broke up with someone you really cared about.
Nick: I think that Im still in shock about it. I never thought
Rachel: Shed do something like that?
Nick:*he nodded* Yeah. And I know youre friends with her. You dont have to stop being her friend because we broke up.
Rachel: I wont stop being her friend because you broke up. I will stop being her friend because she cheated on you. *Nick winced, Rachel whispered* Sorry. But I dont tolerate cheating, especially after I was cheated on.
Nick: Hmm I forgot that you have kind of been through the same thing. Except, yours was kind of worse.
Rachel: In some ways it was worse, but in others, not so much.
Nick:*he head tilted to the side slightly* What do you mean?
Rachel: Brian cheated on my in a worse way and I caught him, but Selena had the decency to confess. But you also cared about her way more than I cared about Brian. I never loved him, or even felt anything close to love for him. Its kind of bittersweet for both of us.
Nick: I guess so.
Rachel: Nickif you need to talk about these type of things, Im here for you. You dont have to tell me about it, but just know that you can. Anytime, but if its really late, you better have coffee. *Nick laughed* Its what friends are for.
Nick:*he smiled and sat next to Rachel* Its a two-way street, friendship. Thanks, Rachel.
Rachel:*they both stood up and she gave him a hug* No problem Nick. *they let go and she smiled* Im gonna head home. *she started walking toward the door*
Nick:*he smiled* Bye.
*She smiled again and walked out of the room. Rachel walked down the hallway and said goodbye to Kevin, who was sitting on his bed, playing guitar. On her way to the front door, she saw Joe in the kitchen. She told him that everything was fine, after he asked how things went with Nick. She said goodbye and went home.*

[AN. Okay, well I dont have to say much about this chapter. Uh, I still like Selena, and I dont really think she would cheat on someone but I used her as a plot manipulation. I originally wasnt going to break up Nick and Selena but then I had an idea for later in the story and I need Nick to be single. ; ) Now Ive got you thinking about what that idea is. I feel so evil, I forgot how fun it is to do that to you guys. XD Just kidding. I love you all. You are amazing.
