REPORTER: Senator McCain, it's been a long campaign already

JOHN MCCAIN: Seems like it.

REPORTER: You have defeated your Republican rivals. Now, as we turn to the general election, what do you think would be more difficult, as a straight shooter, beating Barack Obama or pretending you like George Bush on a daily basis?

JOHN MCCAIN: [laughs] Are you with Comedy Central?

REPORTER: No, I'm with CQC.

JOHN MCCAIN: Ok, uh, thank you. Look, uh, I've got to, uh, in both cases I have to portray the American people my plan of action, my vision for the future of this nation. How to keep it secure. How to make it prosperous. How to make, uhh, carry out the obligation that all of us have and that is to hand off a safer, more prosperous world to our children and grandchildren. And as I said on Saturday Night Live, in my case, my grandchildren, my great-grandchildren, my great-great-great—it's a pretty funny skit, in case you missed it.

REPORTER: So for the record—

JOHN MCCAIN: My point is that's my vision for America and plan of action for America that will determine the votes of the American people, I believe. Go ahead. Did you want to follow up?

REPORTER: So, I was going to say, for the record you like him like him?

JOHN MCCAIN: [laughs] The record, I think the American people will decide where to cast their vote on who to best keep America secure and prosperous.

REPORTER: That's like him like him.
