SUPPOSE A WEDDING Pt 1

One-act opera by Leonard Lehrman after eponymous Scene of a Play by Bernard Malamud, accompanied at the piano & staged by the composer at Hebrew Union College-Jewish Institute of Religion, NY City, June 1, 1997, co-sponsored by The Long Island Composers Alliance and The Puffin Foundation. As shown in an opening tableau, the affections of Adele (Janis Sabatino Hills) are sought by a sporting goods salesman Leon Singer (Ben Spierman), supported by her mother Florence (Lucy Sorlucco), and by an aspiring writer next door Ben Glickman (Joel Ackerman), supported by her father Feuer (Ronald Edwards), a retired Yiddish actor.

In Pt 1, Leon plays cards with Feuer, but leaves in a huff as Florence enters.
