Simulators use translation (motion in up to 3 axes) to simulate net G forces of less than or more than 1 G. The rig shown in this demo can't do that. It can roll left to simulate a right turn, but it can't simulate the full force of the turn.
Difference being that a car on the ground wouldn't see much in the third axis. Planes can experience high g's going straight vertical but I don't think that applies to cars so much. I know that oiling going into a corner and under braking can be an issue. Those forces appear to be covered in this rig.
i'm a pilot and i fly full motion sims and all that so i understand a bit of what's going on in the rig with it simulating the forces but I don't think you can truly get an accurate representation with a rig that only rotates the engine on the horizontal and lateral axis. take for example a full motion aircraft sim, it rotates AND slides on all 3 axis so it can virtually simulate all types of movement. this is only rotation and only on 2 axis.
I'm guessing this machine simulates what g-forces are placed upon the oil in the sump under race conditions. Love the sound!
