The one at 3:26 is beautiful, I have a question: can you plant a seed and grow a bonsai like that, or do u have to buy a pre grown tree/bush and shape it into what you want? Cause if you can plant a seed, I'd like to do that

i am from japan and live in omiya, the mecca of bonsai where most of the best and oldest trees are and unfortunately we have lost so many of the best pieces during the earthquake in march including some on this video and many others because of the radiations, are now pretty sick. i have always thought we should move the best pieces in another country, but i guess it's too late now
