I checked out MRL's Missoula Yard and found some EMD gems, including SD45, SDP40, and GP35. You'll get to see a Jimbo Crane crawl between gondolas in this video.

  • Has the steam generator been removed in the SDP40R or is it still intact?

  • @trainmanjosair: I've been told the steam generator has been removed, but that's secondhand information.

  • MRL also has some SD70s.Trains Magazine has done stories on MRL in the past

  • @generationll: You should see the SD70ACe's in the next video I post.

  • @TRAVAM91 You ain;t never lied about that!

  • @trainmanjosair

yeah im sure they will squeeze the life out of the remaining EMD units as long as they can... i dont like the SD70ACE`s, there not the same but they get the job done. but nothing will beat the 8 unit lashups that used to push trains over bozeman and mullan passes...

  • @TRAVAM91 Hopefully they keep the PURE BREED H.P. going. Gota love the sound of a 645 turbodiesel!

  • that jimbo crane is awesome. ive never seen one in action before. good catch! that SDP40R is one of a dying breed... i snagged some pictures of that myself in my younger years

  • @trainmanjosair i talked to an MRL hostler over in missoula that told me the generator has been removed... MRL`s SDP40 is one of the last out there. BNSF just retired their last SDP40 not to long back. dig it while you can

  • Nice!!!

  • MRL must hav

e more 20 cylinder EMD's that any other railroad operating in the US. Having grown up around the SP fleet, this is music to my ears. MRL certainly keep their locomotives cleaner!

  • regional operator or a sub company of BNSF???

  • Excellent video !!!!

  • Really cool stuff man!
