Clip from December 6, 2011, The Rachel Maddow Show where Rachel highlights the December 6, 1995, anniversary of the ethics investigation into Republican presidential candidate and former Speaker of the House, Newt Gingrich, that led to him being sanctioned and fined $300,000 for ethics violations by the House (first/only time that ever happened) and, eventually, run out of the speakership and later the House. Rachel offers valuable/timely reminders of Gingrich's huge ethical lapses in the context of his current run for the presidency.

  • Hey if you would have done as much digging as you are doing against Newt for Obama we wouldn't be in the hole we are right now. That was 16 years ago. I would sure hate for people to know what I was doing 16 years ago. Bible says those without sin cast the first stone. Newt is better then Obama for sure.

  • @YouPostTheNewscom, Not that anybody really cares what you were doing 16 years ago, but I suppose it's interesting (and not surprising on some level) that a Newt supporter admits to being a douchebag just like Newt was when he was 52. Oh, and to your other point, here's a novel suggestion: why don't YOU do the "digging" on Obama and post it on YOUR channel.

  • KEEP DIGGING MADCOW.. HE IS GOING TO BE "YOUR" NEXT PRESIDENT... LOL THE MAN IS VERY INTELLIGENT. VERY WELL LIKED.. UNLIKE YOU...

  • @missinghimtoo, Ha, $10k says you're wrong. As Nobel Prize winner Paul Krugman and others have recently said about Newt, "He's a stupid man's idea of what a smart person sounds like." Here's a friendly suggestion: stop shouting (i.e., turn off your CAPS key) that's pretty much reserved for crazy people. Of course, if the shoe fits (I mean, you are a Newt supporter)...

  • Yep, this is the ethically "challenged," thrice-married, self-admitted serial adulterer who a clear plurality of Republican registered voters (37%) want to be President of the U.S. Hmm, what ever happened to the party of "family values"?

" Gingrich is clearly a faux intellectual who does not really think through the implications of many of his dubious theories "

He is a destructive, lying sociopath. His purges of the republican party are what has resulted it's being reduced to the TEA party we know today - the Deep South at it's core, and driven by radio personalities like Rush Limbaugh, Glenn Beck and the rest.

As Lizz Winstead said: "Newt, the future of the Republican party."

  • does he REALLY think people can see him as president ? What an idiot...

  • He's a cheater.

  • @YouPostTheNewscom If you want to be fogiven for your past (illegal and unethical) misdeeds you have to apologise and show that you are a different person. Newt hasn't done that therefore this is a legitimate story which should be discussed. What makes you think you can trust a man who has done such things and never shown remorse?

  • @missinghimtoo Newt has no chance. He is not liked.

  • What's the difference between Santa Claus and Newt Gingrich? Santa stops at three hoes.

  • @missinghimtoo Well coming from someone who seems to be a great intellect such as yourself, this should have... ohhhh between negative to zero credibility.
