  • But Rubens is still in the new movie, playing one of Ze's disciples. He is a very good actor and a great guy. But you can't make a Ze do Caixao movie without the real Ze do Caixao, and that man is Jose Mojica Marins! So that is what I know about this video. Thank you and good night.

  • Anyway, Rubens Mello won the contest. He would have played Ze in Encarnacao do Demonio if the film had been made in 1999 or 2000. But for various reasons, that project fell apart. Years later, new producers came onboard and helped Mojica get the project rolling again. By then, everyone agreed Mojica was the only person who could play Ze. The audience would not accept another actor in the role. Rubens agreed, only Mojica could play Ze.

  • Mojica held a contest several years ago, 1999 I think, to select his successor to carry on the role of Ze do Caixao. This is documentary footage from the final round of the contest. Funny, they are using some of the same lines I used in the monologue I did at the two conventions this year. To who does the earth belong? To God? To the Devil? Or the spirits of the dead?

  • If anyone that sees this, speaks Engilsh, can you translate this for us non-Portuguese speakers? We'd love that.
