I attented the 91st not as the S1 (which I was at the time) but as a Lowell reporter back in 1973. My article on the night's events was my only sports article written for the paper and appeared in the May 22nd issue.

after the 91st in 1995, one mission rifle went missing. someone stole it and was messing around town with it or something. the liberal politicians got freaked out an decided to take all the rifles away because of that hooplah. those drill rifles were completely unfireable obviously. the rifles made RO awesome. you can do so many more drills with a rifle.

nonono it was because of pussy liberal politicians.

it was cuz of bal rigth
Back when I was a senior at Lowell, we had two guys toss rifles in the air where they would spin five times before returning to their hands as part of the boy's drill team performance. This was done at night in the Civic Center near City Hall. It was a feat that was never duplicated. They took first place that year.

awesome, too bad aerial tosses were banned from comp. i've always seen pictures of comp when it was held at C.C. auditorium (late 70's right?) must've been cool to drill there.
