I saw the same thing last night or early this morning, but the flash was 10 times larger. Spotted from Cape Town, South Africa and passing the Southern Cross in a southerly direction.

Wow! I just saw something about 15 minutes ago that looked very similar to this, which also happened to be moving at the exact same downward angle and even seemed to be travelling in a very similar path as when i first observed this outside myself it was going just by orions belt
