A project already in full swing in Willow Way, Hurstpierpoint, clearing rubbish for
free every Good Friday.
We liked this project so much we have partnered with James & Sophie with a view
to multiplying the works throughout Mid Sussex.
What's the point?
The main point is that on Easter Friday, Christ died so that we can repeatedly
dump our rubbish (sin) upon Him for free and with no catches. Our skip day seeks
to proclaim this truth to the world through social action.
The other point is that not everyone can make use of their local tip because not
everyone has access to a car. This creates one rule for people with cars and one
rule for people without. So we believe we are meeting a genuine social need.
Finally, take a look at our video and you will see it's a wonderful opportunity to
have fun, build friendships, help one another, strengthen communities, share resources
and enjoy an all-day bonfire / barbeque :-)
One Man Helping Another
"Love one another as I have loved you"; "love your neighbour as yourself"; "When
you did it for the least of my brothers you did it for me"; "When I was thirsty
you gave me something to drink."
Christ has sent His followers to love . It is personal and it is
costly. It will be inconvenient; it will not always be appreciated. He commands us
to love "as I have loved you." Christ's love was such as drove Him to die the most
tortured of deaths for people that despised and rejected Him.
Where do we start in this broken world?
How do we try to even begin to follow such an example?
Christ said love your neighbour, and that's where we have started.
This world is full of pain, broken promises and un-lived dreams. Many who profess
not to believe in God are still angry. God listens; He cares; and He acts. He does
all three by sending us on His behalf. We are sent to be His hands and feet on
this earth.
We yearn to see hearts touched and lives changed through Helping Hand. One man helping his neighbour as Christ taught us.
