Yeah, but for birding, they are really unnecesary, and the optics of zoom binoculars tend to be of inferior quality compared with fixed power.

But they are good for animal, aircraft viewing. I use 30x zoom binoculars, they focus quite well at 30x. I can hold it still enough without tripod. It is big and heavy but that hasnt bothered me too much. I do agree that a powerful zoom on a small pocket binocular is not much good, but on a large bino it is quite impressive.
