It seems the new American way involves a process that is not just from farm to food, but from farm to fuel.
In the name of a cleaner environment ethanol has, over the years, become very political, being blamed for everything from the power of the state of Iowa to world hunger.
It's growth has been largely due to a policy by the U.S. government- a federal subsidy paid to oil companies to incentivize them to use corn ethanol in their gasoline that is then sold to consumers at gas stations across the country. It lasted 33 years and cost more than 20 billion dollars.

  • hemp would solve this problem. the seed is food and the stock can be used for ethanol and plastics (among others)

  • @isofaster not to mention the fact that it can be regrown yearly, cleans it's own soil, and produces 4x as much as much usable material per acre as trees that take 40 years to regrow...go hemp and way to know your facts!!!

  • Even with having no ethanol made from corn it won't stop people of going hungry, As long We live in a capitalist society people while still go hungry regardless of how much food their is.. Think about the excess we scrap off our plates or spoil because we didn't eat or didn't sell it, Not only in the way that it's simply what other people could be eating (scraps), But think we only have it because of money! Can you see the disregard for others money creates. The system has worked a while timeup

  • all this bs has raised food and fuel prices.

  • @funnyguise Marijuana isn't food, it can be ate but corn seems more reasonable. Any way my point is we should use hemp to make ethanol. But Americans know if hemp was put in for everyday uses and medical uses things would be easier but the politicians have the cotton companies up their ass's. So we will continue to buy oil off terrorists and pretty much pay for their needs but we are still wasting money on terror also. The worlds leaders have there heads up their ass's

  • Due to inflationary cost driven up by hi corp CEO salaries & enticing stock payouts the mass marketing of unnecessary items, as well as the outsourcing of most food production to 3rd world countries super-sized industrialized farms & ranches have taken over. The only niches left are specialty food high-value cash crops. The organic, open range & local movements are presently being attacked by corp lobbyist. If big corp wins, we'll b at their mercy.

  • @isofaster Cool thanks will watch. Some interesting points there, I knew about the hemp car, did not realize it was going to run on hemp oil too, what a shame this world is run by corporations.

  • @1ghostronin that was certainly a factor , but don't forget that hemp was poised to replace pulpwood for paper ( W. R. Hurst corp owned millions of acres of forest and most of the news papers in the day, they wouldn't stand for that!) , and hemp oil was about to replace crude oil and of its uses ( Henry Ford built a car from hemp plastic panels that ran on hemp fuel !) and DuPont corp ,oil giant of time , was not going to let that happen, the video "The Union" is a must see.

  • @MrRichierich91 maybe you should get off of the computer and get a damn job and worry about feeding yourself and your family and not those idiots in africa who live in places that dont provide food and water, there are no starving homeless people in my town because i live in a town full of people with common sence that realize that even shoveling shit pays enough to feed themselves. I love the USA because I can have those material wishes.

  • @isofaster The original reason they stopped farming hemp is because the textiles last to long, so they banned it and swapped it for cotton. Cotton wears out quickly, hence they can sell more because people have to keep buying it.
