Watch the process of making raw cane juice (jugo de cana) in Ecuador, using a diesel engine to "juice" the raw cane stalks into a sweet, green drink. This video was taken at a roadside family cane juice business in Vilcabamba, Ecuador. It is normal for children to work alongside their parents in such businesses.

  • I can imagine the Whining you would get out of the Average Young American girl if you asked her to work the cane machine

  • OH MAN! I had some in india. Only street vendors sell it fresh, they use pretty much the same method. Although in india, they would put the sugar cane through a second time to extract more juice. Anyways, it tastes amazing. Not only that, you feel so energized after drinking it, and its very very healthy.

  • here in miami we have little cafes that sell the jucie its great we call it guarapo (cuban term)

  • Fresh raw cane juice, although generally hard to come by, makes a good alternative to the maple syrup used in the Master Cleanser juice fast.

Hey Mike, how about hosting some Master Cleanse retreats when the center is up and running?

  • We used to eat raw sugar cane that my parents would buy from local farmers here in L.A. It's been a while since I've had it, but it was really tasty. A whole glass of the juice would be amazing. I'm gonna go out and find some this weekend.

    Thanks for this Mike

  • Great video. Can we purchase a sugar cane stalk and juice it ourselves? And where can the juice be purchased in the US? Wonderful video Mike.

  • Is it possible to purchae sugar cane and juice it?

Loved the video Mike and reading Natural News! So good to see family working together and children helping. The machinery and use of aluminum disappoints me though. Is there any other way to press the cane using some sort of manual press?

  • By the sounds of the heavy traffic, this family sure have a thriving home business! Hope all those truckers stopped to buy fresh CANE JUICE & not only to meet you Mike. :)

A project like this would go down so well in many places throughout Madagascar, where the people are terribly poor, but their land is extremely fertile, so fresh produce grows in abundance. Madagascar is home to the adorable LEMURS in case one didn't know.

Definitely worth a visit - but be warned, transport is a NIGHTMARE!

  • Hilarious! People squawk because kids are being subjected to a "dangerous" environment!

I grew up on a Pennsylvania pig farm and let me tell you, I would not trade my childhood for anything. It was a normal farm and we learned to work...and we learned where not to put our hands around machinery.

Look at the kids in this video. They are well fed, healthy and with their families!

A bunch of North American kids could use some of that "unsafe" environment ;-)

    Jim

  • It is delicious! I had some in Paraguay. Very refreshing.
