This is a quick demo on how I shuttle tat, which is a little different then they show in the books. I am making a split ring.

  • I will attempt to do another one soon much slower.

  • This was not a video done as a tutorial to teach someone to tat but to show that there are different ways to hold the threads. It is true that it is a bad video to learn from. The best way is to have someone teach you face to face. That way you can ask questions and find what works for you.

  • This is definitely not for the beginner, way to fast

  • This is the second tutorial on tatting that I have watched and it seems there is no regard for the beginner. For the untrained eye, it appears you are moving the string back and forth. What does your hand moves mean? Also, there are no close up shots to see what you are doing and you are tatting way to fast. Bad video to learn from.

  • Well, thank heaven. I am a crocheter and knitter. I began teaching myself to tat yesterday and have been having THE WORST time trying to hold the thread between the thumb and forefinger of my left hand. I just tried holding the thread the way you do in this video and by golly, I'm tatting! THANK YOU!
