Wow! Right at the beginning...
Norman Mailer was such a whore....Burroughs is perhaps the most brilliant, but there were other American writers who were brilliant as well.

I saw Burroughs once at one of his readings, Vancouver BC, 1983. The comments here re. Italian remind me the venue I saw him at was The Italian Center, & for the occasion Burroughs included a satirical piece about the Italian Mafia, with a wild scene of hapless diners being terrorized by mafiosi at an Italian restaurant!

Wow... They made a mistake right away by saying Naked lunch was his first book...
William S. Burroughs was one of the most interesting people who have ever lived. His negative poetics, writing, and art worked to help us understand human nature, greed, and love. He went to the extremes of life, donating his life to inadvertently spreading and seeking the truth. Go to Google and search The Truth Contest then click on first result, then The Present. Begin reading, you'll never look back.
