Two views, the first from Choorstraat, the second from Domplein (the oldest square in Utrecht), of the Domtoren or Dom Tower and its Carillon bells of originally 35 chimes but now extended being played at lunchtime on Friday 4th April 2008. The tower is 112.5 metres (368 feet) high and was built in the mid 1300s.
the biggest part of the Domplein originally was the church belonging to the tower... only the choir portion of the enormous cathedral is stills standing, the rest collapsed in a storm, I believe not long after the construction work was completed.
I love Utrecht!
