Then again DOOM did revolutionize FPS and made it one of the most popular game genres, other developers simply followed suit, while ripping some from DOOM *only because it did set the bar for FPS games* adding their own flavor to it. It's like Sprite and 7UP, they are both lemon lime sodas, but both have a slightly different taste.
