FYI Saxy boy-Jackie Gleason (the great one) never had any formal musical training whatsoever-nonetheless-he would tell a composer what he wanted and they would produce music with full orchestration(the sharp violins blew my tweeters out). Besides -I did'nt know there was a school for music critics. MOF(matter of fact) I used to work with a music critic for one of those small, leftwing newspapers. No formal training in music-could even play any instrument-yet-he was a music critic.
