The pilot did not change his mind. The approach was to RWY 28 from the outset. And stop the zooming in. Learn how to use a camera.

the pilot is amazing..I have landed many times at st barts and it is ALWAYS a hair raier..even when landing in the normal up and over the hill and road manner

This was NOT landing backwards. Landing backwards is Throttle on to make the halfway point on the runway, then going to idle and having a strong enough headwind to push you backwards aloft, reverse controls, and touching down. I've only seen it once and it was in either a Cessna or Piper. Can't remember. Sadly havn't seen it done since and can't find a video of anyone else doing it!
Because of wind direction. Who cares about terrain when when you have a 10 knot head or tailwind
