I found the tape so I redid the video (mostly) with an
upscale to 720p (was better at hiding the interlacing)

Here I got my new pad off ebay. You can check if its synaptics by the drivers if you know the laptop model it came from. Simply look up the model's drivers, and look for the touch pad drivers. It will have icons of synaptics logos inside. You don't have to add your own buttons if you have separate button board that connected to the touch pad. Make sure you probe and reprobe everything for the proper pins. You risk burning out the PS2 port, touch pad or both of which I am not responsible if you do. You do not need drivers for the synaptics pad to use the scroll if it has scroll area, or the inertial dragging feature. You do need drivers to use extra buttons aside from left or right click. Some times the scroll buttons that some laptops have work. You will simply have to try.

im lookin to a "Gateway MX6000 Synaptics Touchpad + Cable 920-000241-02" on ebay, what do u think?

@rickymontero go to the dell site and MAKE SURE it has synaptics drives associated with it. its been my experience that dell more uses alps than synaptics. You can also see by looking at the chip. unless its the epoxy glob, itl have the the company logo on it.

hell yeah!!!! i've been looking for a chip diagram like you have here. You don't know how much of a help this video have been. Forget those noobs that say your vid don't explain enough. the way i see it is, "if you cant understand what the guy on the video is doing, then don't try it!" now im going to try to mod my arcade stick, to work with touch!
