We get a lot of Hoover WindTunnel Self-Propelled Uprights in for repair, most of them just need a new belt. The repair is a little challenging, but after watching this video, you should have no problem doing this repair yourself.

First, you'll need to pick up your new Belts from GoVacuum. This machine takes two different belts;

If you need to replace the roller brush, you may buy one here:

Once you have the parts, you should have no problem repairing your Hoover WindTunnel Self-Propelled Upright.

  • does this help with the self propel problem? the problem with my vacuum is the self propel stopped working. will changing these 2 belts fix that?

  • @sg4ea Yes, it very well could fix the power drive issue. The power drive unit relies on one of the two belts that fit this vacuum part #'s 38528035 & 38528034. Both ship for free from GoVacuum dot com

  • My belts and rollar are fairly new, but it looks like the shaft of my idler assemby is too loose. Got a video that shows how to replace that?

  • @kenbenja The Idler shaft is the motor... you might want to call us! 888-468-2210

  • why did ahoynateo like this???

  • This is a great video! Thanks so much for posting. I was able to change the belt myself. I'm in the DC area, so when it's time for a new vacuum, I will definitely come by!

  • nice video, thanks for the part numbers too!

  • THANK YOU FOR THIS VIDEO!!!!!!! You just saved me an $85 repair bill at shop. There was a burning smell coming from my vacuum, and after watching this video, I was brave enough to open it up and inspect the 2 belts. They both looked fine. Then I checked the bearing (?), that metal rod inside the roller brush....total wrapped up in hair and dust and the roller was not spinning freely. When I cleaned it all up, the vacuum worked as good as new! You guys rock!

  • @MisPinksunrise If you need help feel free to call us 888-468-2210

  • @MisPinksunrise Oops.. thanks CHRIS!! Sorry. My vacuum worked for 2 minutes, then had that burning smell. It's christmas, so i'll figure it out tomorrow maybe...

  • Yippee! I changed both belts, and the roller brush myself! =) I've always hated this vacuum, because of the costly repairs. Hopefully, I can repair it myself, until I can afford a new one. Thank you Eric!
