Over the course of the last couple weeks, East Stroudsburg Veterinary Hospital and PAWS/Pocono Animal Wellness Services have been the un-intentional recipient of numerous lost, stray and dumped dogs!? Despite the freezing temperatures, unbelievable snow and ice and horrible conditions, multiple dogs have been captured in the Pocono Mountain area by Good Samaritans and transported to animal shelters and veterinary hospitals across Monroe County!
Currently East Stroudsburg Veterianry Hospital and PAWS/Pocono Animal Wellness Services are temporarily housing a pair of older Chow mix dogs that were apparently dumped by their previous owner around New Years!? The male is 9 years old and completely blind, the female is 11 years old! What kind of dumbass dumps old, blind dogs outside in this weather to fend for themselves. The old guy is named Cyrus and was found wandering aimlessly and blindly near Rustic Acres in East Stroudsburg. He also has been diagnosed with Lyme Disease and intestinal whipworms. The female named Esmerelda was found wandering in a snowstorm along Creek Road in East Stroudsburg a week after the male. Her left front foot was horribly mangled by a trap and had to be amputated. She also has Lyme Disease and whipworms. Both dogs are being treated by Doc Pawsitive, Clair Thompson, Leader of the Pack at PAWS, and Dr Sammie Thompson, Leader of the Pack at ESVH. Though no one has been able to prove their previous owner "dumped" these dogs and thus avoids prosecution in a court of law, let's do our best to publicly humiliate someone so callous as to dump old blind dogs outdoors in the dead of winter!
Definitely chow of some combination!
