I've been working this up myself so I know it's harder than it sounds. I like your interpretation. You're playing all Ziggy's notes and bringing your own thing into it as well.

Its hard to make it feel good because it its neither straight nor swung, it has the classic new orleans "in between" feel. Try playing along to a track with the drums in it and try to play exactly what zig plays. Its tricky, but once you get the feel down, you can apply it to a great deal of new orleans tunes
