Dear Joe | Jemi Love Story || Ch.31

The next morning Demi got ready for school as usual. Ever since the yelling spree with Joe she'd been avoiding her parents as much as humanly possible, but now that she and Joe were okay she felt better. Anyway, she had found is tiring and pointless. She made her way down that stairs and sat at the island counter in the kitchen. She dad looked up from his paper and her mom's lip twitched into a smile. They both knew not to question their daughters actions, but just to roll with it.

"Breakfast?" Her mom asked , holding up a plate.

Demi breathed in the rich scent. "Yes, please."

Breakfast was pleasant. She hadn't really realized how much she's missed her parents presence. The feeling of comfort and safety that seemed to follow them wherever they went. She gave them each a hug and kiss before heading off to school.

Pulling into the parking lot she was faced with a familiar smile. Joe. She grinned as she watched him lean up against his car in the spot parked next to her. She locked eyes with him, smiling like a fool. Something moved in the corner of her eye. A man dressed in dark clothes came closer and brought his arms to his chest as he stood next to Joe. Demi's face instantly fell. Her eyes slighted toward the very buff gentleman standing beside her and Joe. Joe, catching onto her suspicions. Pulled her into a hug and gave her a brief kiss on the forehead. This made her smile ever so slightly.

She pulled away, "So. . . Who is this?" She motioned to the large man standing to the side of them.

"This is Tom."

Her eyes narrowed again, "And he's here because. . .?" She prompted.

Joe stood silently pausing. He gave her a you-know-exactly-why-he's-here look.

Demi's jaw clenched. "Did Jake spill?" She accused.

Again Joe said nothing.

"I'm not going to repeat the question."

"Maybe." He responded, she glared. "Okay, yes. Yes he did. It's okay though." He took hold of her shoulders. She looked past his shoulder and toward a nearby tree. She was too pissed. "Look at me." he prompted. Reluctantly she did. His eyes crinkled sexily as he smiled. She reached up to touch his jaw smiling a little too.

"I've already taken care of everything. Tom is just going to follow you to you classes and wait in the back. It's no big deal. You wont even know he's there."

Demi resisted the urge to roll her eyes. Instead she just stepped onto her toes and brought their lips together. They pulled apart. "Thank you."
