u have to hit it where the egg shaped thing is... i know it sounds weird but u have to take off the plastict and then hit it from the back of the tube where there is egg shaped thingand then hit it there and see...

It actaully is considered imploding. I highly recommend against taking the casing off a monitor/tv as that suction cup looking things can carry enough volts to easilly kill you even if the tv is old unplugged & doesn't even work.
