House of Light play their apocalyptic number "Prayers on Fire" to a nervous audience. Not to be confused with the Birthday Party song of the same name. The new wave group played the same night as Iggy Pop & the Stooges. With their new drummer
Chris Hughes(Hugo Race,Nick Cave)and keyboardist Sinah. The song is from their first album "The Flowers of Evil"released 2008.House of Light is one of the newest bands to draw upon the tradition of the post-punk and "no- wave" groups of the 70's and 80's. Unlike many of their contemporaries,H.O.L perform songs that are strong in melody and are known for the way they mix a "wall of sound" with a catchy hook. Their early live shows as a three-piece were volatile and unpredictable. The band would often stop in the middle of songs,or subtly hurl insults, with obvious tensions between band members onstage. The later formation of the group includes a keyboardist and second guitarist and consequently a larger and more sophisticated sound.Though the group comprised mostly of Australians they are based in Berlin.
