I usually like when i find bands noone really knows about. But for some reason this band has really hit a nerve with me, and i get so hyped when this has 405 views and soulja boy has about two million too many.

And to "supid people can't appreciate classical": you're stupid. That's not it at all. I think most people understand the intellectual qualities of classical music. In fact they understand that it is pure intellectualism. What people like you don't understand is when you go all the way to intellectualism- you lose emotion as there is no room left. Any emotional response you have to classical music is only an indirect biproduct of your intellectual response. It can't touch you like other music.

Don't be such elitist pricks. There is a third option: TMSR is a great band, but all of you guys are only attracted to it by it's relative obscurity.

There's no reason one can't enjoy TMSR and Broken Social Scene and DCFC as well as Ke$ha.

you didn't get my point. I was reacting to Jscott6 who expressed in a way how shame so much people listen to Soulja Boy instead of TMSR who only counted 405 viewers back then.

My point was, despite i am a TMSR fan myself (otherwise i wouldn't end here) :

1- maybe we are all wrong, Soulja Boy is the new Bach and we're the few dumbs who haven't seen the light.

2- OR maybe we are a kind of elite: the few good taste people that know this great band.

Don't project your own self-worth on other people's tastes. Just move on if it's not in your interest or within your personal tastes. So incredibly simple :)

im writing my thesis about music taste and consumption. so many people dont listen to classical music, especially modern pieces. the reason: they are not "educated" enough to understand more difficult pieces. This is a difficult one of popular music though, but an example that classical music is not the only difficult one...

well, there is two options:

1 - The Most Serene Republic is such a crapy band that no one wants to see their videos.

2 - you're part of a good musical taste elite.

You take the option that pleases you the best.
