  • I am a fan of Koukl. I heard this on podcast when it first came out, I find him persuasive on the abortion issue. I am persuaded though, by the secular argument. I think the pro-life crowd would do well to understand it. It does ultimately force us to confront the crux of the issue. When does life start? Is there a dramatic difference between a sperm and an egg in seperate places, and a sperm and egg unified? In both cases they are potenial people. It is the most difficult of issues.

  • @quintessential37 Thanks for the comments. Well, according to science, life begins at conception. Put it this way, I've heard several apologetists use this: if a building was set to be demolished and the demolition guy turns to you and says, is everyone out? And you don't know. Do you shrug and say, "it's a difficult question. Blow it up anyway." Of course not. You'll want to make sure. Science tells us we do know. It's a life. And even if you really didn't know, why take the chance?

  • If your video had ratings this atheist would give your video five stars

  • I don't allow ratings because I learned right away that a lot of people just click one star if even the title goes against their belief system without even listening to sound arguments (most of which they've probably never heard). Same with comments, if they leave one, it's easy to tell who's listened and who hasn't. Most are just ad hominem attacks. It gets old.

  • Koukl destroys her with rationality and logic

  • @mythkillerdotcom (con't)......the zygotes. 101 lives saved verses two. If you say the zygote has the same value as the baby, you must morally save the zygotes. If you say the baby has more value than the zygotes then you must say the question is more complicated than to say "life begins at conception".

  • @mythkillerdotcom According to science a sperm cell is life. Weather or not is has combined with an egg. That is the point. Your analogy of the building erroneously conflates life with sentience. We would not stop the implosion because there was a bit of living tissue inside, in fact, there probably is.

I would counter with this; let's say you are in the building and there is a case of 100 zygotes and 1 baby. You only have time to save 1 What do you do? If your reason is consistent you......

  • This is the first time I've ever heard Greg - and I'm so grateful for his ability to get right at the heart of the issue and with such grace and poise! The caller was so exposed for her bias and unwillingness to hear the truth. Can it get anymore obvious that people like her really don't care for those women who are used in the abortion issue? NO! She didn't care for those women, but only for her opinion - which is greatly flawed.

    You did great Greg! Thanks!

  • Very Interesting indeed!

  • God bless you and your ministry, it's nice to see we have Christians who defend the faith instead of just hearing Athiest and others bash our Religion. Thanks for the upload...

  • @directorstu

When do the rights of the mother get superseded by the rights of a few fused cells? Therein lies the problem; how can one have a decent debate with you when the basic premise of your argument hinges on dehumanizing the human embryo?

If I rephrase your question as "But when did the rights (personal choice) of the mother get superseded by the rights of a living human embryo?", the whole premise of the argument takes on a more sinister tone.

  • @home4kb As tempting as that is, it's much better to take their argument full length and see where it goes. And as you can see here, her argument's parameters are impossible to fulfill. Her issue, like most of ours, does not start with reason, but with morals.
