Video of the Canadian Warplane Heritage Avro Lancaster, shot at the annual airshow in Hamilton, Ontario, June, 2001

I'm dedicating this video to all the men and women of all the Allies, who helped to build and keep 'em flying. (including my mom & dad)

The music is Vera Lynn singing "Wish Me Luck" and "The Dambusters March" from the film of the same name.

  • Hm.

Why the music, when there is the chance, to hear the engines?

I would never lay music over that sound....

  • @wollmamaguckn : Because the video is dedicated to someone to whom the music means as much to as the airplane. It's about people, not just machines.

  • Unfortunately at this point in time this particular Lancaster CG-VRA has been grounded due to coorossion being found on some of it's propellers, and according to an article I read in Flypast magazine she'll miss the 09' Air Show season

  • Sad news for warbird fans. Thanks for the update

  • Is this one of only 2 flyable Lancs in existence?

  • Even though i'm far too young to fully understand why,you just know you are watching and hearing something special...we need to keep examples of engineering like this flying..there needs to be at least one concorde/blackbird etc still showing off around the world.

  • What a truely beautiful aeroplane. thank you for captureing it at what it does best.

  • what a beautiful aircraft!!!

  • @TBM3EAvenger Just to let you know I live in Hamilton, and we just purchased a new set of propellers for the Lancaster about 6 months ago. Donations were sent in and we got an original pair (still in crates) from an old warehouse I believe. They cost around 120, 000 dollars and are said to be the last 4 in the world.

  • @TBM3EAvenger Think she'll make it to the 2010 Toronto Airshow?

  • world war 2?

  • Aye, concorde would still be operational, at least in the hangar - but the selfish twits at BA, even tho' they had it free, distanced itself from her. So they sit, in limbo, in the wet - the museums don't own them, BA won't let them go...

  • coolest plane ever CYHM lol gotta love it
