@ESPsandEmgs It's a shame. $290 for a real Les Paul in 1959. $290 in 1959 translates to $2,000 today, and that's still cheaper than a new Standard. Now you pay $,2500 for a two piece back with weight relief and a short neck tenon. You have to pay $5,500 for a real Les Paul. I guess profit comes before quality. Luckily, we have Heritage guitars which make true Les Paul style guitars, and they show pride in their work.

To be fair, a NEW 1959 Les Paul cost $290 w/case, thats about $2,000 in todays money, an NOTHING is made like it used to be! Im just glad that they make reissues now, there used to be a time when all you could do was dream...

@AlembicPools The problem I have with Gibson is that they CAN make guitars like they used to, but they choose to label them as "Historic" models and charge three times the money. If they really cared about the customers they would make the Historic '59 Les Paul the regular Les Paul Standard. I would have no problem paying $2,500 for one.
