I dip my cup of soup back from a gurglin' cracklin' cauldron In some train yard My beard a rustlin' coal pile And a dirty hat pulled low across my face Through cupped hands 'round a tin can I pretend to hold you to my breast and find That you're waitin' from the back roads By the rivers of my memory Ever smilin', ever gentle on my mind

Jonathan, thanks for introducing me to the works of Graeme Sydney ... I love 'em ... Sort of feels like my soul ... at times

@metrotek5 He has an intuitive sense of Central Otago and surrounds, for sure, and it shows through, hauntingly so, in his paintings. Glad you liked it. Check for a book called 'Timeless Land' - lots of G.Sydney paintings and short accompanying stories/peoms set in the area as well. Probably available through Amazon.
