Songs from Shane's Continuing Journey - part one:
My back roaded, or eroded, memories of Central Otago-set to the paintings of Graeme Sydney; a NZ painter of grand yet strikingly desolate vision. He, of course, deserves more international recognition. That's just my opinion.

  • Jonathan, thanks for introducing me to the works of Graeme Sydney ... I love 'em ... Sort of feels like my soul ... at times

  • @metrotek5 He has an intuitive sense of Central Otago and surrounds, for sure, and it shows through, hauntingly so, in his paintings. Glad you liked it. Check for a book called 'Timeless Land' - lots of G.Sydney paintings and short accompanying stories/peoms set in the area as well. Probably available through Amazon.

  • I like you line-up of pics ... good post

  • Certainly of the most poignant songs I've ever heard....

  • o mundo é muito bonito!!

  • I dip my cup of soup back from a gurglin' cracklin' cauldron In some train yard My beard a rustlin' coal pile And a dirty hat pulled low across my face Through cupped hands 'round a tin can I pretend to hold you to my breast and find That you're waitin' from the back roads By the rivers of my memory Ever smilin', ever gentle on my mind
